Postponement of the 2010 Place Survey

The Department for Communities & Local Government has today confirmed that the 2010 Place Survey has been postponed.  In a letter to Chief Executives, Grant Shapps MP explained that “I want to free councils to spend more time meeting the needs of local residents and less time reporting to Whitehall. That is why I have decided to formally postpone the Place Survey planned for this autumn, and will not be requesting authorities to carry it out during the remainder of this financial year. You will not be required to report against the National Indicators previously measured by the Survey”.

Tbe letter went on to say that the long term future of the Place Survey is yet to be decided.
