In April 2011, HM Revenue and Customs released figures on families receiving Child Benefit. This data represents a snapshot at a point in time of all claimants at 31st August 2010 present on the Child Benefit Computer System.
The data is used for child population estimations, by local authorities and government department in monitoring benefit take-up and other policy options. It has been estimated that the take-up of CB is around 97%.
