New ethnicity estimates released by Office for National Statistics

The Office for National Statistics released new ethnicity estimates on 18th May, which fall in line with the mid-2009 population estimates.  Published tables include estimates of each ethnic group broken down by age and sex for local authorities in England and Wales, and for Primary Care Organisations and Strategic Health Authorities in England.

Researchers, local authorities, health authorities and other public and private sector organisations use the estimates to gain an up-to-date picture of the ethnic composition of local populations and to monitor diversity and anti-discrimination programmes.
