The beta release of the Local Tobacco Control Profiles tool for England, 2011 data refresh has been announced. The work is being led by the London Health Observatory on behalf of the Public Health Observatories in England.
The profiles can be accessed at http://www.lho.org.uk/lho_topics/analytic_tools/TobaccoControlProfiles/default.aspx
The tool brings together a set of indicators at both local authority and primary care trust level that are specific to tobacco control, and tailored to the needs of local users. They are outcome-focussed and relevant to the major modern challenges of tobacco control in England. The tool gives local commissioners/services a set of up-to-date information as well as indicator trends over time, where possible.
The indicators cover:
- the health problems caused by smoking
- the extent of local smoking
- how services across the NHS and local authorities are tackling smoking and the problems it causes.
