Unemployment update – September 2011 figures

The Job Seekers’ Allowance (JSA) claimant count level in September 2011 was 9,000 in Warwickshire; a rate of 2.6% of the resident working age population. This represents a fall of 192 claimants or -2.1% from the previous month.

These falls are mirrored to a lesser extent across the sub-region and West Midlands region however, the UK saw a slight rise in claimants from August 2011.

The broader ILO definition of unemployment for the UK for the three months to August 2011 was 8.1%. The rate was up 0.4 percentage points on the previous quarter.
