End of Life Care Profiles Updated

The South West Public Health Observatory (SWPHO), as national lead public health observatory for end of life care, was commissioned by the National End of Life Care Intelligence Network (NEoLCIN) to develop a set of indicators to help identify and understand variation in end of life care across England. This resulted in the development of the End of Life Care Profiles.

The End of Life Care Profiles present data on place and cause of death, by age and sex, for each Local Authority in England using the InstantAtlas mapping tool. The data can be viewed in map, chart and table format. The tool has been designed to make it easy to compare statistics across Local Authority areas. The Profiles are used by policy makers, commissioners and providers of end of life care services, among others, to identify areas and populations of need.

These profiles have now been updated with the latest nationally available data (2010) and some changes have been made to improve them.
