Presentation to Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group

The Observatory kicked off the new year with a presentation to the Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).  The CCG is one of four emerging groups across the Coventry and Warwickshire sub-region (referred to as the Arden Cluster) and covers an area identical to the borough area.  The CCGs have come together to take on the commissioning responsibilities as part of the Government’s plans for the NHS. The groups will work together to manage their local budgets and buy health services for patients direct with other NHS colleagues and local authorities.

The clinical commissioning groups will assume full responsibility for commissioning in April 2013 and, as part of the preparation for this role, the Observatory presented a socio-demographic and health overview to GPs from across the borough.  The slides provided a contextual summary of Rugby, including key statistics on population change, the local economy, deprivation and inequalities, the Mosaic classification and of course health issues.

The material may be of broader interest for those working in the Rugby area and can be viewed here.
