Warwickshire unemployment update – August 2012 figures

The Job Seekers’ Allowance (JSA) claimant count in August 2012 was 8,067 in Warwickshire; a rate of 2.4% of the resident working age population and 3.0% of the economically active population. This represents a slight increase of 15 claimants or 0.2% from the previous month.

Although Warwickshire has seen an increase of 15 claimants over the past month, this is not uniform across the Districts/Boroughs.  North Warwickshire saw a fall of 5.7% (or 57 claimants) from July to August 2012 compared to Stratford-on-Avon District and Warwick District which both saw increases of 33 claimants (3.4% and 1.9% increases respectively).

Warwickshire has a lower claimant rate than this time last year with over 1,000 less claimants. At District/Borough level, four out of the five Districts have seen a double digit reduction over the past year.
